A cocktail bar on the second floor
Somm Mixing Glass is a sofa cocktail bar in Taichung’s West District, a few minutes’ walk from the Calligraphy Greenway. Most of what we pour is stirred rather than shaken — spirit-forward drinks, served in low amber light, in a room quiet enough to hear the person across from you.
Finding us
We are up a staircase, on the second floor, down a small lane off Taiwan Boulevard. There is no large sign at street level. Walk into the lane, look for the stairs, and come up — you are in the right place.

Show the Chinese address to a taxi driver — Taiwanese addresses are far easier to find that way than in romanised form.

What to order
The list runs to twenty-one original cocktails, grouped into three chapters — first encounter, warmth, and the ones people come back for. Classics are not on the menu but are always available; just ask at the bar. Several drinks can be made without alcohol for NT$300, and they are built as carefully as the rest, not treated as an afterthought.
If you would rather not choose, say what you usually drink — or what kind of evening you are having — and let the bartender decide.
Behind the bar
Liz came to cocktails from wine — a sommelier by training, with time behind the pass at a three-Michelin-star kitchen in Taichung before opening this room. That order of things shows up in the drinks: they are built to sit alongside a conversation and a plate of food, not to arrive first and shout.
Booking a table
There are not many seats. Send us a direct message on Instagram with the date, the time and how many of you there are, and we will keep a sofa. English is fine. Coming on your own is fine too — the bar seats are for exactly that.
